Workspace

The desk and the door

Support is physically noticeable

Sitting with your back to the door means working against a small permanent alarm. Every few minutes the body checks whether something is happening behind you.

A thirty-second test

Sit down at your desk and answer:

  • Can I see the door without turning my head?
  • Is there a wall or a solid element behind me?
  • Is my first glance when looking up calm or restless?

Two "no" answers explain a lot of heavy mornings.

What often suffices

Turn the desk ninety degrees. A shelf as a back. One screen less in view. Cost: nothing.
