One lamp is not a concept
The classic ceiling light makes everything equally bright, and therefore equally important. A room without hierarchy is tiring.
Three layers
- Base light for orientation
- Zone light for activities: reading, cooking, working
- Accent light for calm points in the evening
Switch all three separately and one room becomes three.
The test
In the evening, only switch on the light where you actually are. Does the rest of the room stay pleasant, or does it turn into a black wall? The answer shows where your lighting concept ends.
